English Tuition: A-Level Literature
Service Description
A-Level English asks a great deal more of students than GCSE: independent thought, wider reading, and the confidence to form and defend their own critical view. Getting there isn't just about content coverage. It's about knowing the individual student well enough to see where their thinking is strong and where it needs stretching. My sessions work across the full range of A-Level demands, from unseen critical analysis to comparative and contextual essay writing, building the kind of argument that examiners are looking for at the top grades. But just as important is helping students find their own voice as readers, so their essays sound like considered opinions rather than recited notes. I keep sessions calm and genuinely collaborative. Students do their best thinking when they feel able to disagree, question, and get things wrong along the way. That trust is what turns a capable student into a confident one, and it's what separates a good grade from a lasting love of literature.
